Conceived in Ramallah, Palestine, and born on December 14th,1981 in Detroit, Michagan. Produced by a long line of musically talented family. He played his first doumbek at 4 years old and never put it down ever since! The youngest of 4, he grew up watching his uncle "Raja" play in his Arabic band. Enthralled with the movement and energy of the doumbek and etc. He knew he wanted to do the same. Around 6 years old he was playing anything he could get his hands on. He would play musical beats for his sisters to bellydance to, and entertain family! He started performing at family gatherings with his uncle and father at 14 years old! At 17 he joined a contmporary Christian band, where he entertained as an auxillary percussionst! A year later decided to join the U.S.N. Enlisted for 4 years he tried to keep the morale up by performing Arabic music on the doumbek for the troops! He arrived in Hawaii in 2001 to finish his duty. That's when he came into Pyramids Restaurant and saw me performing! After that we performed together twice, and unfortunately we lost contact because he left the island. We rejoined again early in 2004 and have been rehearsing and performing. And here he is today! |
